Hoop Pine

The par 5, 445 metre tree lined ninth hole takes you back to the clubhouse. Deep fairway bunkers define the landing area from the tee. The green is reachable in two for the longer hitters, however a fairway bunker protects the left hand side and three deep bunkers protect the right. The green is raised 3 meters above the fairway making approach shots difficult to judge. Once again the ability to judge the pace of the green will get you to the halfway house much quicker.

Naming the Hole

Hoop Pine – After the large mature row of these trees that stand as sentinels and form a dominating feature along the left side of the fairway. Several Hoop Pines of immense size also stand proudly as obvious aim points behind the green of this straight Par 5.

Playing Tip

Keep your drive left of the fairway bunkers and an accurate second shot will leave a short approach to the elevated green.

History

This hole was completely stripped and rebuilt by Ross Watson in 2007. Originally this was Hole 18.
