Donna Addie has joined The Brisbane Golf Club leadership group as Events Manager, bringing with her more than a decade of experience in the field of formulating and managing functions and events.
Donna replaces Lauren Carr, who has been with the club since May of 2016 and has, in the words of General Manager Geoff Kuehner, done ‘a wonderful job building our wedding and events business’. Lauren has moved to another function venue.
But while one important staff member leaves, another comes on board and has the experience and personality to continue leading the club in an area which has blossomed in the past decade.
Mr Kuehner said Donna was a stand-out among the host of applicants for the important role of Events Manager and he was excited at the prospect of what she will bring to events area.
“While we are first and foremost a golf club, we have a much-treasured clubhouse which brings timeless elegance and sophisticationto events staged here. Our facilities, particularly the heritage-listed Tennyson Room, offer something that is rare in our city.
“Having recently relocated to Brisbane, I am confident Donna can continue the wonderful work of Lauren, but at the same time introduce some innovation of her own.”
Donna has more than 10 years’ experience working in the field of event management, in both event sales and operational roles.
Throughout her career she has held positions with large national and international companies such as Gift & Homewares Australia, the Intercontinental Hotel Group and Accor Hotels. And through these positions she has developed and demonstrated a wide range of skills and expertise, qualities she will bring to her role at BGC.
Donna holds an Advanced Diploma in Business and Marketing with a Major in Event Management, and has extensive experience working in high-volume wedding and event venues.
Among her previous experience Donna was most recently Client Relations Manager for Mayfair Homes in Canberra, and prior to that was employed at The Surf Club Mooloolaba as Conference and Events Coordinator. She has also been employed as Wedding Executive at Novotel Twin Waters Resort and was Marketing and Events Manager for the Exchange Hotel in Townsville.
As Conference and Events Coordinator, Donna was employed at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Torquay and started her career in hospitality as Exhibitions Coordinator, spending more than a year with Gift & Homewares Australia, based in Sydney.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be living and working in Brisbane, and feel rather privileged to be employed by such a prestigious and historic organisation as The Brisbane Golf Club,” she said.
“But I believe my experience, combined with my superior attention to detail and will to succeed, will make me a great addition and valued asset to the club. I understand that I have big shoes to fill and I am looking forward to doing that.”
Mr Kuehner urged members to first consider the club when planning a function or major event.
“With our Executive Chef, Frederick Marechal, Food and Beverage Manager, Rudy Cheong, and now Donna Addie, we have a wonderful team to look after your next event,” he said.
