Blue Gum

A memorable finishing hole this dogleg right Par 4 is just 316 metres. The tee shot favours’ a left to right shape onto a left to right sloping fairway. Longer hitters must be accurate or layup. The well bunkered green rises significantly above the low point of the fairway and requires an accurate lofted second shot, otherwise your golf ball could make it into the Club House before you.  A good opportunity to end your round with a positive if you avoid the deep front bunker and take advantage of the relatively flat green. Then you are at the door step of our charming heritage listed club house where you will enjoy a refreshing drink and first rate food…

Naming the Hole

Blue Gum – The Queensland Blue Gum trees that line the hole, and in particular the large specimen on the upper left side of the dogleg and the very iconic and stately old historic tree on the left side of the green, are a significant feature framing the fairway and standing watch over golfers as they rise up their closing approach to complete their round.

Playing Tip

A tee shot of around 180 metres to the left centre of the fairway will leave an uphill approach with a short iron. The second shot plays half a club longer than the distance suggests.

History

This was once Hole 2 and was a straight hole with the green about where the practice chipping green is now.
