Course Tour – Hole 6 – Rocky Waterholes

Rocky Waterholes

The landing zone for your drive on the 324 metre par 4, sixth hole is defined by four large fairway bunkers and an infinite Later Water Hazard down the right. A good drive to the crest of the hill will open up the green to a short iron approach.  The fast sloping narrow green is guarded left and right by deep bunkers. Beware of a front right pin placement.

Naming the Hole

Rocky Waterholes – So named as it’s the only hole in the course layout which crosses this creek that provides significant water input upon which the course is reliant. Rocky Waterholes was also the original name for the local area now known as Rocklea. Enjoy watching your drive soar over it, and then crossing the bridge over the John Kelly Burn as you play your way eastward up this fine and strategic Par 4.

Playing Tips

Longer hitters can take on the left fairway traps to enable an easier approach. Beware the false front on the right hand side of the green and the eight bunkers.

Originally this was Hole 12. The tee previously adjoined the lake and was moved to its current position in 1984 beside the out-of-bounds fence.
