Note from the President – Greater Brisbane Lockdown

I hope you have enjoyed a happy and healthy Christmas and New Year period.

I am sure most of you are now aware that the Queensland Government has announced that the new UK strain of COVID-19 has been detected in the local community. Subsequently the Premier has announced this morning that greater Brisbane will now enter a three-day lockdown to control, monitor and assess the spread of the virus. This means that the community of greater Brisbane is not allowed to leave home except for essential reasons. It is clear that recreational golf is not allowed during this period.

Therefore, The Brisbane Golf Club will be totally closed from 6pm today until 6pm on Monday, 11 January 2021.

We recognise this is an unfortunate start to the golfing New Year, but we are hopeful that the Club may re-open on Tuesday morning.

We will continue to monitor Queensland Government announcements closely and keep our Members fully informed of any changes as they occur via email, the latest news section of our website and our social media. Below is a link to the Queensland Government website that outlines today’s announcements.

In the meantime, I would like to wish all Members a safe weekend and encourage you to please contact myself or our CEO, Geoff Kuehner via reply email if you have any questions.

Kind regards

Mark Deuble, President
