With two rounds remaining in the BDGA Division 1 Pennant season there is still plenty for all four teams to play for. While Redcliffe Golf Club are the best positioned to win Division 1, Keperra Golf Club could still win or like Royal Queensland Golf Club and The Brisbane Golf Club could also be relegated back to Division 2.
BGC’s draw at home last Sunday against Redcliffe meant our dreams of a third consecutive Division 1 flag are over and our focus now turns to remaining in the premier grade for 2020.
Only Redcliffe Golf Club are guaranteed a position in Division 1 next year. While there are countless possibilities BGC need to win at least one of their remaining two matches to stay up.
BGC’s first chance will come this Sunday with a match against Keperra away. BGC recorded a win in the same fixture last year but since then plenty has changed in terms of team line ups. BGC will need to play its best golf against a team who have a proud history in Division 1 for a chance to repeat that feat.
A number of changes have been made across all three grades due to player unavailability.
Two changes have been made to the Opens which secured 7 wins at home against Redcliffe last Sunday. Conor Whitelock and Sam Howse have been replaced by Nick Campbell, who will play for the first time in 2019, and Eugene Estella.
In the Masters, our number one player, Phil Melksham returns to replace Geoff Holding while Jordan Hampson will be replaced by Dylan Jones in the Juniors.
Our squad for Round 5 is as follows:
Matt Van Eden
Our reserves are Alan Grieve and Geoff Holding.
Once again Members are encouraged to come out and support our team this Sunday at Keperra. Tee off is 7am.
Live score updates will again be provided on Facebook.
